The 20's had a uniform hair fashion - the bobbed
hair. Independent of age and social class the hair of fashionable
women was short and smooth combed.
1930 came a new hair-style into fashion - the
hair reached to the chin, was a little bit waved and curled in the neck.
1936 it was in fashion to have many little
forelocks and a simple roll at the back. The hair was worn longer from
now on.
In the late 30's the curls or rolls were pinned
high in the front and the hair on the sides was dressed back. The shoulder-long
hair had open curls at the end. Always the ears were released. This hair-style
stayed fashionable during the war.
Because of the employment of women in the wartime, it was necassary for many to use hair-nets or head-scarf to hold the hair together. By the time this necessity turned to a popular head-dress. |
